This ladle is handmade by Yamanaka Lacquerware craftsmen. Made by hollowing out a piece of wood, it has a beautiful form with no joints and is firm and comfortable to hold.

It comes with a leather strap for convenient storage in the kitchen.

It is finished with the “Akebono” lacquer technique, in which black lacquer is applied over a coat of vermilion lacquer. The name Akebono (dawn) comes from the fact that the underlying vermilion lacquer can be seen in places, resembling the way the sun begins to rise from the eastern sky and the sky begins to turn vermilion.

It can be used for cooking and serving various soups such as miso soup and stew. Especially when serving nabe dishes, the beautiful design makes it suitable to be placed on the table.
